New records of hymenopteran parasitoid species from citrus orchards in Terceira Island (Azores, Portugal)

Samples of parasitized aphids and scale insects were collected in different plant hosts nearby citrus orchards in three different places, in Terceira Island (Azores), namely, Biscoitos, S. Sebasti"o and Terra -Ch", aiming at f inding plant species that can provide alternative hosts for parasitoids of citrus pests. Emerged parasitoids consisted mainly of braconids, i.e., Lysiphlebus fabarum(Marshall), andLysiphlebus testaceipes (Cresson) fromAphis fabaeScopoli inPittosporum undulatumandBanksiasp., andAphidius funebris(Mackauer) fromUroleucon sonchi(Linnaeus), in Sonchussp. One specimen of both Aphelinus chaoniaWalker andMicroterys nietneri (Motschulsky) from Coccus hesperiduminHedera sp.Scutellista obscura emerged fromParasaissetia nigra (Nietner) inP. undulatumand alsoMoranila californica(Howard). Secondary parasitism of the pteromalidPachyneuron aphidis(BouchE) was also collected from Aphis solanella , inSolanum nigrumL. These parasitoid species (exceptM. californica )are reported for the first time from the Azores.
