Reactions between 1,6-diaryl-3,4-dihydroxy-2,4-hexadiene-1,6-dione and various arylidenarylamines lead to the formation of 3-substituted-3-hydroxy-6-phenyl-3,4-dihydro-2 H -1,3-oxazines. The synthesized compounds were examined for anti-oxidant properties, cytotoxic activity, and acute toxicity in vitro . The most significant anti-oxidant activity was observed for (2Z)-3-hydroxy-3-[4-hydroxy-2-(4-methylphenyl-3, 6-diphenyl-3, 4-dihydro-2 H -1,3-oxazin-4-yl]-1-phenylprop-2-en-1-one (IIb) and (2Z)-3-hydroxy-3-[4-hydroxy-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-(4-methylphenyl)-6-phenyl-3, 4-dihydro-2 H -1, 3-oxazin-4-yl]-1-phenylprop-2-en-1-one (IIc). At the same time, the synthesized compounds exhibited no cytotoxic activity in vitro .
