Expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and microvessel density in mammary infitrating ductal carcinoma and its relationship with biological behaviour

2010
Objective To study the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and microvessel density(MVD) in mammary infitrating ductal carcinoma and its relationship with biological behaviour. Methods Speciece of mammary infitrating ductal carcinoma were detected the expression of VEGF and MVD by immunohistochemical methods.MVD was calculated according to the quantification of positive Ⅷ factor expression.Clinicopathological characteristics of the patients includingtumor size, clinical stage and auxiliary lymph node metastasis were recorded and compared with the results of VEGF and MVD expression. Results VEGF expression and MVD in invasive breast cancer group were greater than those in normal control group.VEGF expression and MVD were correlated to clinical stage.VEGF expression and MVD in invasive breast cancer with lymph node metastasis were significantly higher than those without lymph node metastasis.MVD was correlated with VEGF expression. Conclusion MVD and expression of VEGF are correlated to vessel formation and invasion of invasive breast cancer.MVD and expression of VEGF may provide reference for prognostic evaluation of invasive breast cancer.
