Design of Smart Home Safety System for the Aged Based on ARM

In view of the problem that the elderly living alone miss the optimal rescue time due to emergency at home, this paper introduces a smart home safety system design based on ARM. The system uses Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) module, Visual Identity (VI) module, temperature and humidity sensors, also combined with GSM technology. To enable the elderly to operate household appliances with simple voice commands and to notify the emergency contact in an critical situation with voice command or emergency button. In addition, when the elderly falls down at home, the VI module will automatically identify the elderly who falls down, and issues an inquiry through the voice module. If the elderly doesn’t respond or seeks help, the system will automatically contact the guardian, hospital and police. So that the family life of old people is more secure, convenient and intelligent.
