Selection of Methods for Filtering the Signal when Measuring at Coordinate Measuring Machine

2018
The actual tasks of surface metrology are the control of the production process and the optimization of the operation of the workpieces. An important problem in the processing of measurement information is the filtration of the received signal. Known methods and standards are considering only the processes of measuring roughness and roundness. Therefore, we carried out studies on the applicability of filtration methods in the general case for coordinate measurements. The article presents an overview of the filters that have received the greatest application in other fields of technology. Based on the review, a filtering strategy has been developed for coordinate measurements. We recommend the following sequence: elimination of gross errors based on the Grubbs test, discrete Fourier transform for revealing systematic errors, minimization of a random error with the help of a bilateral Gaussian filter, surface reconstruction after filtering based on the inverse Fourier transform. The proposed filter sequence was tested in the plane measurement and confirmed the high efficiency of minimizing the random component of the signal.
