Competitive-level and mid-term effects on the magnitude of home advantage in Portuguese futsal

AbstractThe purpose of this study was twofold: (1) to analyse the influence of the level of competition (First and Second Divisions) on the magnitude of home advantage (HA) in Portuguese futsal; (2) to examine whether the HA has changed over the recent years in Portugal. Data from 6.558 matches contested in First (n = 2.002) and Second (n = 4.556) Divisions of Portuguese futsal over the last 11 seasons (from 2006–07 to 2016–17) were collected and analysed.
