Study on the microbiological examination method for Candida albicansin vaginal use preparations

Objective To establish a suitable test method for Candida albicans in vaginal use preparations,and to provide a microbiological test method for vaginal use preparations.Methods According to 2005 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia requirements,five test suspensions were made respectively.The size of colonies was recorded and identified by using Sarbanes-dextrose agar,10 g·L-1 Polysorbate 80 at three different incubation temperatures.Results Candida albicans grew well on Sarbanes-dextrose agar at 35-37 ℃ incubation;pseudohyphae and chlamydospore can be observed on 10 g·L-1 Polysorbate 80-corn meal agar.Germ tube can be observed by using serum-free medium cultured at 37 ℃ incubation for 1-3 hours.Conclusion The established method is feasible and could be used in the 2010 edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia.
