A new suitable method for SWAT model calibration and its application in data-scarce basins

2012
The distributed hydrological model-SWAT-was applied to Yili river basin for tackling the important problem of the water resources evaluation in data-scarce basin.A new suitable method for model calibration was developed using multi-temporal scales,multi-variables and multi-sites incorporates characteristic of the basin. Preferable simulation results were obtained:all the sites fit well in the period of calibration and validation,NSE and r2 were both above 0.6,with the highest being 0.83,and RE were all within 8%.The results indicate that in this calibration method, the model represents the hydrological processes of the basin and the simulated results can provide references for the evaluation and management of water resources of the basin.
