Accumulator injection system (common rail) for internal combustion engines

2001
The invention relates to an injection system (Common Rail) for internal combustion engines comprising a flow controlled high pressure pump and a control device regulating the volume flow and also the rail pressure. According to the invention, said system is provided with a controllable, high speed pressure reduction valve (14, 14a, 19, 20, 22 - 28) for removing minimal amounts of fuel from the rail in order to reduce the pressure in the system, so that the desired system pressure (PSOLL) is not exceeded. A variance comparison of the pressure system is generated after the reduction in pressure and the withdrawal of fuel (pressure reduction) takes place by means of the pressure reduction valve.
