Neurosarcoidosis, stroke and antiphospholipid antibodies: a case report

1996
Stroke is uncommon in neurosarcoidosis, despite histological evidence of vessel involvement by granulomatous process. We describe recurrent cerebral ischemias in a young man affected by sarcoidosis. Haematological investigations revealed the presence of anticardiolipin antibodies and lupus anticoagulant. Stroke in neurosarcoidosis is probably due to several different mechanisms, one of which could be the presence of a hypercoagulability state.
