Chronic heart failure (CHF): Thiol oxidation and antioxidant capacity as possible biomarker (e-BQC)
2018
Introduction Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) process is characterized by a reduction in the cellular oxidative stress response and furthermore an increase in oxidative stress. However, there are a large number of discrepancies about this topic. Objective The aim of this research is to establish the relation of antioxidant capacity and the aging process using a new and simple method to measure real antioxidant capacity in human plasma. We consider this electrochemical method as total real antioxidant capacity because measure protein antioxidant power and molecule antioxidant capacity. Method Blood samples were obtained of 100 volunteers, 50 subjects between 65–85 years and 50 subjects between 25–50 years. Immunity markers of aging were measurement using flow cytometry, e-BQC electrochemical antioxidant capacity and other oxidative markers as GSH/GSSG was assayed using kits of Bioquochem SL. Results and conclusion Data indicated a correlation between antioxidant capacity, oxidative and immunity markers. In conclusion, eBQC electrochemical antioxidant capacity method is able to measure real antioxidant capacity and has a good correlation with aging and redox markers and could be used as a possible biomarker of aging and alternatively to classic antioxidant capacity methods in biological sample.
