Metastasis from choriocarcinoma of the mediastinum producing acute appendicitis

Extragonadal germ-cell tumors are extremely rare and comprise only some 1± 2% of all germ-cell tumors. Gastrointestinal metastasis of these neoplasms is very infrequent (1). We present here to our knowledge the ® rst case of appendicular metastasis from a primitive germ-cell tumor of the mediastinum (choriocarcinoma) that began mimicking a acute appendicitis.
