A rearranged ursane triterpenoid from Rhoiptelea chiliantha

Abstract Phoiptelic acid, the first representative of a rearranged ursane-type triterpenoid acid with a Δ 5 double bond, was isolated from the bark of Rhoiptelea chiliantha . Its structure has been established by means of mass and 2D-NMR spectroscopy.
