The invention discloses a preparation method of a copper-chromium electrical contact material. The preparation method specifically includes the steps that required chromium powder and copper oxide powder are calculated according to the material ratio of a copper-chromium electrical contact which needs to be prepared; the chromium powder and the copper oxide powder are weighed for standby application; the copper oxide powder and the chromium powder are mixed; and the forming, reducing and sintering procedures are conducted on the copper oxide and chromium mixed powder, hot extrusion is conducted on a sintered copper-chromium billet to form a bar, and the bar is machined into the copper-chromium electrical contact. By means of the method, direct contact of brittle phase chromium and copper particles can be effectively reduced, the prepared product can be more excellent in chemical and physical performance and machining performance, and the metallographic structure can be more uniform.
