CIS-2-PENTENYL MOIETY FROM 5,6-DIHYDRO-2H-THIOPYRAN. A CONVENIENT SYNTHESIS OF CIS-JASMONE

A method for the synthesis of cis-jasmone from 5,6-dihydro-2H-thiopyran is described. Formation of cis-2-pentenyl moiety was achieved by reductive desulfurization of the 2H-thiopyran derivative obtained by the alkylation of 5,6-dihydro-2H-thiopyran with epichlorohydrin.
