Application of the Mössbauer Effect in Some Tribological Problems

It is well-known that different kinds of mechanical treatment of metal surfaces have essential influence on their properties [1]. It has been established that the most intensive structural changes occur in the surface layer with the depth <1 μm. At the same time, the Rontgen methods provide investigation of surface layers with the depth < 5 μm, while electron methods (microscopy, electronography, etc.) allow to look for the surface layers with the depths < 0.03…0.05 μm.
