Cuerpos suspendidos: La pequeña silueta al borde del abismo

The states of body suspension are somatic and emotional at the same time. In everyday life we do not perceive this organic relationship, but only when our chain of actions and patterns is interrupted, suspended or broken. Observing the body actions from the outside we almost always have a feeling of emotional and muscular contact with the person who performs a chain of actions. When, for some reason, an action is interrupted, suspended, diverted or stopped, the production of meaning and sense continues beyond the interruption or breakage. The suspension is, in addition to being an observable motor fact, the sign and the index of other alternative senses. When children point to something without touching it and, at the same time, they observe their father or mother looking for an affective complicity in them; when a young woman performs a performance on the edge of an abyss and places her body in a liminal state; when the actor points out of the scene and looks out into the audience; when the dancer’s body stops and suspends just before finishing a sequence.
