Evaluation of optical and structural properties of SnO nanoparticles synthesized via versatile hydrothermal protocol

2020
Abstract In the present investigation stable stannous oxide (SnO) nanoparticles in its +2 state were successfully synthesized via hydrothermal route at different temperatures viz., 120 °C−500 °C designated as S1–S6 respectively. The crystallite size, morphology and elemental composition of the synthesized samples were identified by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF) and the optical properties were evaluated by UV–Visible Diffuse Reflectance (UV-DRS) and Raman spectroscopic studies. The X-ray diffraction indicated a tetragonal symmetry with nano crystallites of an average size of 8.8 nm.
