TIME-COURSE CHANGES OF SDH AND CCO ACTIVITIES IN THE HIPPOCAMPUS OFMICE INDUCED BY CEREBRAL ISCHEMIA AND REPERFUSION

2005
Objective:To investigate the time-course changes of succinodehydrogenase (SDH) and Cytochrome C oxidase (CCO) activities induced by cerebral ischemia and reperfusion in the hippocampus of hyperlipemia mice. Methods:The model was established by repeated ischemia and reperfusion in hyperlipemia mice. The mitochondria were prepared by centrifugation and the activities of SDH and CCO were measured by biochemical methods. Results:The activities of SDH and CCO in hippocampus of model groups on 1, 7, 15 and 30d after operation were obviously lower than that of normal control groups (P0.01) and decreased continually with the prolongation of time. Conclusions: The disorder of energy metabolism caused by decrease of SDH and CCO activities might be one of the mechanisms of neuronal injury induced by cerebral ischemia and reperfusion.
