A surface emitting laser of an embodiment of the present disclosure is provided with: a current constriction region having an opening part formed by impurities injected inside a laminate from a second semiconductor layer side; and a first DBR layer of a first semiconductor layer side and a second DBR layer of the second semiconductor layer side that grip the laminate in a position facing opposite an opening part. In the opening part, the opening diameter near the first DBR layer is greater than the opening diameter near the second DBR layer.
