Theoretical and experimental studies of dry snow effective permittivity in the 18 to 90 GHz range

1998
The effective permittivity properties of several dry snow types are examined in the 18 to 90 GHz range. The experimental data on the extinction coefficient of dry snow /spl kappa//sub e/ are employed to derive the effective permittivity. A comparison between the derived effective permittivity and effective permittivity based on strong fluctuation theory is conducted. The range of validity of strong fluctuation theory model for dry snow effective permittivity is examined by using the experimental data.
