Online Aviation Cable Fault Detection based on Spread Spectrum Time Domain Reflectometry

Spread spectrum time domain reflectometry (SSTDR) is now an important method to locate cable fault on line. By analyzing the principles of SSTDR, establishing and testing the simulation model in low signal to noise ratio (SNR) condition, this paper examines the effectiveness of SSTDR for detecting and locating intermittent faults of aviation cables in working condition. Parameters that control accuracy and signal to noise ratio for the method are evaluated. Simulink in MATLAB is utilized to establish and verify the simulation model.
