Chemokines in human obesity
2020
Abstract Obesity and type 2 diabetes have been shown to be associated with chronic inflammation. Despite extensive evidence for inflammatory mediators in the obese patients and multiple clinical trials, the outcome has been disappointing. In murine models recruitment of immune cells during inflammation has been shown to contribute to the chronic inflammation. Clearcut evidence for the differential expression of chemokines that mediate this recruitment is not available. In this short review we discuss the observations on CCL2 and CCL5 in human obesity.
