Active microwave observation and modeling of snowpack thickness on Arctic sea ice
1998
A detailed characterization and study of the electromagnetics properties of snow-covered sea ice has been made with the intent to retrieve snow property information using satellite-based radar. This work also examined the association of energy balance components and the change in snow and ice properties. The microwave signature of snow on level first year-ice was documented during the seasonal transition from spring-to-summer.
