consistent with a uterine fibroid, although other possibilities could not be excluded. A second mass was identified in the right side of the anatomic pelvis. This mass was heterogeneous and created a great deal of posterior shadowing. Computed tomography (CT) scanning of the abdomen and pelvis (Fig. 2) showed a large mass rising out of the central pelvis with lower attenuation in the centrum of the mass, suggestive of a uterine fibroid with central necrosis. With soft-tissue windows, the second mass was confused with the contrast-filled colon.
