Globular clusters at low and high redshift

2008
Globular clusters can be considered as fossils of the formation of galaxies. Unfortunately, from their present characteristics it seems difficult to extract information on how they formed. We should take advantage of the original burst of globular cluster formation to directly observe newly-born galaxies at UV rest-frame wavelengths (i.e. redshifted in the NIR). This would shed some light on the formation of the parent galaxies.
