Development of a Temperature and Humidity Controllable Mini Fog Chamber for Wetting Process Study

The large-scale fog chamber is generally uncontrollable,so it is difficult to research the environmental factors affecting on wetting of the insulators.We introduce a new type mini fog chamber which can adjust its temperature and humidity precisely and can be used to study the wetting process.The fog chamber can be used to simulate the environment conditions by adjusting temperature and humidity.The humidity can be adjusted from atmospheric humidity to 99% with less than 3% fluctuation,the temperature can be modulated from room temperature to 50°C with variation within 1°C,and leakage current can be used to reflect the surface station of insulators.Combining detection of leakage current,a series of experiments have been done in the mini fog chamber for preliminary exploration of the role of temperature and humidity in the wetting process of the contamination on the insulators.Test results prove that the temperature and humidity of the mini fog chamber can be controlled well,showing that system is suitable for studying the wetting process of dirty layer.
