The article explores an apparent homogeneous world that of the occupants of municipally-owned dwellings (apartments, houses and land) located on the former Highway 3 which crosses middle and upper middle class neighborhoods in the north of Buenos Aires. The case is placed within the context of the restricted housing options for the lowest income groups in the city. The authors analyze occupant families' perceptions of their housing situation and the way they relate to neighboring family groups living under the same circumstances. This analysis highlights significant internal differences which reflect the heterogeneity of the occupants
