Otras locuras femeninas: la de Gemma Ferruggia

2018
No record of the work by the Italian author Gemma Ferruggia can be found in Spanish libraries, even though an also forgotten Concepcion Gimeno de Flaquer would have included a chapter dedicated to her work in the essay entitled La mujer intelectual. The text was precisely focused on defending the capacities of women through a diverse catalogue of women talented in their professions. And it is with good reason that Ferruggia's work has been reviewed, as she had achieved fame throughout Europe with the translation into English of her novel Follie Muliebri [Woman's Folly]; a first-person account narrated in a feminine voice, vividly describing her condition. In her work, Ferruggia narrates the difficult life experiences of Catalina Soave, armed with courage and aware herself that taking control of her discourse and sharing it could fortunately mean taking control of the course of her life. An original text now worth discovering and reading in Spanish.
