Vehicle and method for controlling thereof

The present invention relates to a vehicle and a vehicle control method and, more particularly, to a technique for nighttime vehicle traveling with which recognition performance of a camera is improved and a collision is avoided by target object detection by both the camera and a recognition sensor by means of head lamp lighting illumination with respect to the target object recognized by the recognition sensor of the vehicle and not recognized by the camera. The vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an optical sensor detecting illuminance around the vehicle, the recognition sensor detecting a target object around the vehicle to acquire at least one of the position information and speed information of the target object, a control unit emitting a control signal based on the acquired target object position information when the detected illuminance is equal to or less than a preset value such that a head lamp is controlled for light illumination toward the position of the target object, and the head lamp emitting light toward the target object position based on the emitted control signal.
