De briefwisseling van de Brugse arts Petrus Bruhesius en Andreas Vesalius' consilium voor Lodewijk van Vlaanderen

In 1592 Henri Garet published a compilation with the consilia, requested by Petrus Bruhesius, physician at Bruges, for his patient Lodewijk van Vlaanderen (Louis van Praat or Louis de Flandre). Praat was Councillor of Emperor Charles V and was suffering from gout. So these consilia are treating one particular disease entity frequently occuring during the sixteenth century. The article discusses the book in general as well as the different consilia in more detail, presenting the different visions of all prominent medical attendants in the Western world.
