New advances in chronic lymphocytic leukemia treatment: Biodegradable ZnO hybrid cluster nanoparticle as antineoplastic agents

2019
Abstract B-cell chronic disorders like CLL unfortunately remain as uncurable diseases. Our group demonstrated the ability of nanoparticles (NPs) to effectively target and successfully internalize in tumor B cells. We had also focused on ways of intracellular enhancement of substances like singlet oxygen (SO) using manganese (Mn) and zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles in order to alter redox tumor cell state in relation to that of normal B lymphocytes. In this paper, we summarize the properties of metal ZnO NPs to induce cytotoxicity in B cells and present a novel Hybrid Biodegradable-Metal Cluster Nanoparticle System as a potential tool to treat B-chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
