Complications of Irradiation of Urological Tumours
1980
Using irradiation at the doses needed for destruction of malignant tissue the borderline of tolerance in the normal tissues is narrow and a systematic investigation of urological tumours to investigate complications after radiotherapy is being undertaken in Stockholm. The investigation of 598 patients with bladder carcinomas, some followed over 15 years, has been completed and is now continuing with over 400 testicular tumours, some followed over 30 years, and kidney tumours after pre- or postoperative irradiation. This report concentrates on the patients with bladder carcinoma treated with different models of irradiation.
