Optical NRZ 2/spl times/10 Gbit/s polarisation division multiplex transmission with endless polarisation control driven by correlation signals

Polarisation division multiplexing enables existing trunk lines with limited amplification bandwidth to be upgraded. Endless polarisation tracking by electro-optic polarisation transformers is demonstrated in the presence of polarisation-dependent loss.
