Therapeutic effects of continue blood purification on multiple organ dysfunction syndrome

2009
] Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of continue blood purification(CBP) on multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS). Methods CBP therapy based on a Baxter BM25 system was used to treat patients who underwent MODS. Pre-dilution form continue venous-venous hemofiltration was the main treatment modality. Replacement fluid was prepared with injection preparation:0.9% saline, injection water,5% sodium bicarbonate,10% calcium chloride or calcium gluconate,25% magnesium sulfate,10% potassium chloride and 5% glucose solution. The concentration of the electrolytes were modulated based on the acid-base balance and serum biochemistry analysis results. Results CBP treatment led to improvement in vital signs of the patients and did good to the maintenances of hemostasis status of the water, electrolytes, and acid-base balance. Moreover,CBP treatment helped to improve uremia and decrease serum C reactive protein (CRP). Conclusion CBP treatment is effective for MODS and will help improve vital signs of the patients and maintain the hemostasis status of the water, electrolytes, and acid-base balance.
