Pressure effects on the orbital ordered state of RVO3(R=Y,Tb)RVO3(R=Y,Tb)

Pressure effects on the orbital ordered state in YVO3YVO3 have been studied by using the low-temperature and high-pressure X-ray scattering technique. The pressure–temperature phase diagram for the orbital state was determined through the crystal structure. By applying pressure the CC-type orbital ordering (CC-OO) is stabilized as compared with the GG-type orbital ordering (GG-OO). It was also found that the ground state in TbVO3TbVO3 changes from the GG-OO into the CC-OO above ∼2GPa, in common with YVO3YVO3.
