Atomization-Based Inhalation-Induced Cough Reflex in Treating Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

2010
Objective To optimize the process of atomization for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Methods Sixty patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were randomly divided into two groups:Group A received oxygen-driven atomization treatment,Group B received ultrasonic-driven atomization treatment. The patients were treated twice a day(15 minutes /treatment)for seven days. The frequency of coughing was recorded during the treatment. Results The frequency of coughing in Group A and B was 3.33% and 30.00%,respectively,and the difference was significant(P0.05).Conclusion Qxygen-driven atomization and inhalation method can reduce the frequency of coughing and improve the respiration.
