Structural, morphological and dielectric study of Ba(FeNb)0.5O3 ceramics synthesized by microwave processing technique

2013
Abstract Ba(FeNb) 0.5 O 3 (BFN) ceramics were synthesized in single perovskite phase by microwave processing technique. Microwave processing showed a pronounced effect on the dielectric and micro structural properties of BFN ceramics. Room temperature (RT) dielectric constants ( e ′) ∼10,893, 14,034 and 18,443 at 10 kHz were observed in BFN ceramics sintered for 15, 30 and 45 min, respectively. Microscopic study revealed dense packing of grains with grain size ~9.0, 11.5 and 13.9 μm in BFN ceramics sintered for 15, 30 and 45 min, respectively. Maxwell–Wagner interfacial polarization was suggested for room temperature dielectric relaxation and the origin of high dielectric constant in microwave processed BFN ceramics.
