ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTY OF THE ESSENTIAL OIL FROM THE MOROCCAN FENNEL FRUITS

The yield, chemical composition and antimicrobial proprieties of the essential oil extracted from Foeniculum vulgare mill from (Morocco) were studied. The essential oils yield average is 3.11%. Twelve components were identified by GC and GC/MS; trans-anethol, fenchone, limonene and estragole, are the principal components of this oil. The fruits essential oil of fennel has an inhibiting capacity of the growth of seven microbial strains.
