Simplifying Mitosis and Meiosis

Students should then focus the microscope on this line. With the lens at the proper distance from the slide, the student can concentrate his or her efforts on moving the slide from the line to locate the specimen. Although the depth of field concept may be difficult for some students to understand, these simple techniques have helped our students to achieve a "functional" competence with the microscope.
