Study On Various Polymorphous Forms of Meprobamate

1991
Meprobamate is a drug which has a bad compressibility and a low solubility in water. In the literature, several crystalline forms of meprobamate have been characterized. In this work, three crystalline forms have been prepared with different technics of recrystallisation. These crystal modifications have been characterized by differential scanning calorimetry and by powder X ray diffractometry. Then, the authors have studied the solubilities and the dissolution rates of the forms. At last, they have compared their abilities to be compressed to those of different commercial samples of meprobamate.
