Roma, un viaje de ida y vuelta. Dos proyectos de Javier Carvajal en sus comienzos

2017
The last trip of Javier Carvajal ended at Rome where he rests at the Pantheon of the Spaniards designed by him and Garcia de Paredes. Rome represented a change in his architecture, the contact with a different culture and with other architects made him to evolve from the supposed heirs of the rationalism of his years of academic training, a time influenced by his admiration for Terragni´s works, joined to more open proposals which connected his professional career to the great organic tradition. His architectural training period took place between Barcelona, Madrid and Rome. He designed two of the best examples of the Spanish modern architecture in Italy while staying at the Academy of Fine Arts with Jose Maria Garcia de Paredes, the Pantheon and the Spanish Pavilion for the 11th Milan Triennial Exhibition. Before his last trip back to Rome, he made a last stop at the chapel that he designed for a residence for monks in the Puerta de Hierro residential area of Madrid.
