Effects of flank glandectomy of the female hamster (Mesocricetus auratus) upon the sexual behavior of the male hamster.

1980
Female hamsters were flank glandectomized or sham operated to evaluate the importance of these glands in the sexual behavior of males. Removal of the flank glands significantly decreased both male and female sexual behavior. These data show that the flank glands play a basic role not only in the normal execution of sexual behavior, but also in the receptivity of female hamsters.
