Batimetria de alta resolução aplicada a estudos de reservatórios de água

2015
The execution of geophysical surveys in shallow waters is always a challenge. Operational limitations related to waves, obstacles to navigation, and the propagation of the acoustic signal itself in this environment use to be common seismic signal degradation agents. Very shallow environment could mean those with water column below 30 meters, although there is not a clear definition for it into the literature. Rivers and reservoirs are typical environments that present water column thickness commonly below 30m. It is well known that most of our society use to set their projects in this type of environment. Dams, tunnels, underwater pipelines and cables, marinas, waterways, and basic studies, like margins erosion and silting process in reservoirs, are examples of projects whose development depends upon the data that usually comes from researches running on underwater environments, where geophysical tools have an important role. New tools like interferometric sonars can help a lot as they can achieve ultrahigh resolution data with a great coverage in short time.
