Perineal lipofilling after an extralevator abdominoperineal excision ‐ Video Vignette

: The attached video describes the technique of perineal lipofilling after an extralevator abdominoperineal excision. Perineal reconstruction in patients undergoing extralevator abdominoperineal excision (ELAPE) is a challenge for surgical oncologists. There is still high morbidity due to infection, perineal wound dehiscence and perineal hernia. No technique is superior to others and consequently there is no technique of choice. Most surgeons have experienced the complication of a perineal wound infection and its devastating consequences: extensive debridement and prolonged healing, which often interfere with any adjuvant treatment that may be required.
