Correlation and regression analysis of body weight and body size measurements for Xinjiang Brown Cattle calf under pen feeding.

In this paper body size and body weight data were collected from 272 calves from 1 to 6 months age in pen feeding Xinjiang Brown Cattle in Urumqi herd bull farm between February and July in 2008,based on this, the growth rules of pen feeding Xinjiang Brown Cattle was explored,and correlations between body weight and body size were analyzed.Meanwhile,regression model was established to predict the body weight of calves of pen feeding Xinjiang Brown Cattle.Results showed that the chest diameter and body weight of pen feeding Xinjiang Brown Cattle were increased with the increase of their month age.The four correlation coefficients of pen feeding Xinjiang Brown cattle including body weight,body height,body length,chest diameter and cannon circumference were 0.927,0.913,0.964,0.851 respectively.All correlations were highly significant(P0.01). Four regression equations of multiple linear were obtained,the degree of correlation between predicted and measured values were 0.975 and 0.973 respectively for male calf,both were 0.977 for female calf,and all coefficients had a significant level(P0.01).
