Bone Mineral Density and Frailty Among HIV-infected Patients on Stable Antiretroviral Therapy
2014
Introduction:
It is estimated that the rate of frailty in middle-aged adults is approximately 4%. Chronic inflammation in HIV is associated with accelerated aging and frailty. Frailty among HIV-infected persons is increasingly recognized but the correlation between frailty and osteoporosis in HIV-infected patients is not completely elucidated. We aimed to determine frailty prevalence and factors associated with frailty score in a cohort of HIV-infected patients on stable antiretroviral therapy.
