Expression of HBsAg and AFP in hepatocellular carcinoma and its correlationship

2011
Objective To investigate the roles of HBV infection in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods The expression of HBsAg and alpha fetoprotein(AFP)in 40 cases of HCC,adjacent liver tissue specimens and 6 normal liver tissue was detected by the immunohistochemical SP method. Results The expression of HBsAg and AFP were both negative in the normal liver tissue. The positive rate of AFP in the HCC and adjacent liver tissue specimens were 70% and 90%(P0.05),the positive rate of HBsAg were 87.5% and 82.5%(P0.05);in HCC and adjacent liver tissue,AFP positive rate of HBsAg-positive patients was significantly higher than that of HBsAg-negative patients(P0.05).Conclusion HBV infection may involve the pathogenesis of HCC by inducing liver cells to produce AFP.
