Large printed loop antenna dimension reduction through layered substrates

This article presents a new way to use multilayered substrates configurations aiming to, instead to optimize the gain of a printed loop antenna, to obtain a significant reduction of the antenna dimension. A circular loop antenna transformed in an octagonal shaped loop antenna is conceived, simulated, realized, and measured. A new antenna inside a multilayer configuration presenting a dimension reduction of 61% is obtained. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 57:504–507, 2015
