ESR studies on low temperature γ-radiolysis of aqueous emulsion of methyl methacrylate embedded in cross-linked dextran

Abstract Upon γ-irradiation at 77 K of the aqueous emulsions of methyl methacrylate embedded in cross-linked dextran (Sephadex G-25) the preferential formation of 2-el-2-methylpropionic acid methyl ester free radicals is observed. Emulsion embedding increases the scavenging efficiency of methyl methacrylate towards hydroxyl radicals by at least two orders of magnitude.
